Porto is the second largest city of Portugal. It has always been the port city. Ribeira has been the heart of the metropolis until today – it is an old fishing district full of colorful tenement houses, vibrant with life from the very morning. It is located on the river Douro, which connects the city with the ocean via the waterway. The locals and tourists stroll along narrow, picturesque streets that lead to various parts of the city: to the north towards the Porto Cathedral, or to the south towards the Vila Nova de Gaia hills.
