Copacabana is a district of the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro located on the Atlantic Ocean. There is a 4-kilometer beach with an elegant promenade, along which luxurious hotels, restaurants, discos and shops are situated. The black and white promenade was opened in 1970 and it had been designed to imitate the waves. On the beach itself you can buy drinks and snacks, play football or rent water sports equipment. Warm, golden sand and turquoise water invite tourists to hours of rest, swimming and sunbathing. The Copacabana beach hosts numerous concerts, festivals as well as sporting and cultural events.
