The vicinity of the 3.8-kilometer Canal Grande in Venice is considered to be the most beautiful part of the city. On both sides of the canal, making a large reverse-S shape, that flows through the Old Town of Venice there are historic buildings with pastel facades, whereas the surface of water is traversed by small boats, gondolas and motorboats. Canal Grande can be admired from the sixteenth-century Rialto Bridge. It is the oldest bridge over the Venice's Grand Canal. The other bridges on the Grand Canal are Ponte dell 'Accademia and Ponte degli Scalzi.
